What’s New
New York Paralegal School (NYPS) has undergone some changes since the events of 9/11. We have brought in some new faces, started new classes and moved forward. These are exciting times at our school and we hope you will be pleased with the results. Thank you for your support.
Dr. David A. May Joins NYPS Staff
The school has added Dr. David A. May to their staff. He will assume the new position of Dean of Academic Affairs and Operations. Dr. May will be responsible for the academic environment of the school and the interaction between the school and its staff and students. Dr. May received his Ph.D. in Management from LaSalle University. He has his Masters Degree from University of Phoenix, and his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY, both in Management. He is also a retired police lieutenant and served in public office as an elected official for 14 years. Dr. May has taught in both the public and private sectors.
Prof. Hanratty Appointed Student Academic Advisor
Donald Hanratty, Esq., who teaches regularly at NYPS, has been appointed Student Academic Advisor to students attending the day, evening and weekend programs. As Academic Advisor, Prof. Hanratty will assist students experiencing academic difficulties, and make tutorial referrals. Prof. Hanratty is a graduate of New York Law School. He has a Master’s Degree in Education from Pace University, and a B.A. in Political Science from SUNY at Stony Brook.
Job Placement News
Recent job placements for our graduates have occurred at Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Penner & Smith; Lexis/Nexis Services; and the Law Offices of Joseph Tacopina, Esq. The NYPS graduate working for Joseph Tacopina, Esq. can look forward to some high profile cases, Attorney Tacopina having represented John Gotti, and acquitted Officers in the Abner Louima case.
Staffperson of the Month
Alana Babin is the school’s Placement Director. Ms. Babin has a Bachelor of Science degree from New Jersey City University. Before coming to NYPS, Ms. Babin previously served as a senior placement coordinator for a major Manhattan based “Temp-to-Perm” recruiting firm. Ms. Babin has been an outstanding school Placement Director at NYPS for over two years.
In Memorium
The school mourns two former students lost at the WTC on 9/11/01, Ms. Denny R. Conley & Mr. Javier Domeniech.
